Very Hungry Caterpillar

The Sad Truth About Libraries

The best books are almost ALWAYS checked out, or damaged and in mending.

It's a very sad truth.

As matter of fact, librarians sometimes have to get creative & resourceful in order to have the materials they need always at hand, like when a storyteller has cancelled at the last minute...

Maybe this is why I love creating felt versions of my favorite stories
- or in the case of the Very Hungry Caterpillar /OPL link/ by Eric Carle
... a puppet-style version!

This little guy actually swallows the fruits -

I usually ask the children for junk food ideas, until, oh -oh, our Very Hungry Caterpillar isn't feeling very well at all!

Put him in the cocoon, (which happens to have a butterfly already in it) make a little switch and out comes a butterfly!

p.s. The 40th Anniversay POP-UP version on Very Hungry Caterpillar is FABULOUS!
