Pirates and St. Patrick's Day

Pirates are PERFECT for St. Patrick's

Hello there everybody!
Welcome to our Storytime today.

Are you ready for St. Patrick's Day?

As you can see, my partner Will Reed and I are already dressed up and ready.

        What?

You don't think we're appropriately attired for St. Patrick's Day??

We're supposed to wear GREEN? That's all?? Just wear some green?

    Well, that's kind of boring.

Will and I are here to tell you that YOU HAVE TO DRESS UP LIKE A PIRATE FOR ST. PATRICK's DAY.

          It's only natural.

Okay, okay. You don't believe us?

        Let me explain:

First

Who loves GOLD more than anyone?

           PIRATES!!!

And WHO HAS THE GOLD?

          The LEPRECHAUNS!!!!

Second

I don't know about you, but I tend to get a little green about the gills whenever I go on the high seas.

Now there's some green for you.
And what's more St. Patty's Day than that?

Third

And here, this is the kicker...

Both Pirates and Leprechauns love to sing.

Oh, and I have a GREAT pirate song right now for you, are you ready?

_____________

Mary had a little lamb, little lamb, little lamb
Mary had a little lamb
...and he threw her out the window,
the window, he threw her out the window
with a heave and a ho and a yo ho ho,
he threw her out the window.

Oh, Will, let's try that again, here's another one...
Now don't interrupt this time. Okay?
          (Will just looks at me)

Will...
      Okay. But no promises.

Jack and Jill went up the hill to fetch a pail of water,
Jack fell down and broke his crown and he
threw Jill out the window, the window,
he threw her out the window
with a heave and a ho and a yo ho ho,
he threw her out the window.

Oh, Will.
How about a story?

Will and I LOVE the library.
Let me tell you, there are a LOT of pirate books for you to read.

As a matter of fact; Will and I have found a great story we would like to tell you.

Those No-Good Do-Good Pirates by Jim Kraft

...and as those pirates sailed off into the sunset, on their ship the Flying Pig, you could hear them singing...

Little Miss Muffet, sat on her tuffet,
eating her curds and whey.
Along came a spider and he
threw her out the window, the window,
he threw her out the window.
with a heave and a ho and a yo ho ho,
he threw her out the window.

LOL, I wasn't sure where you were going with this one. I love the use of the puppet character and dressing up, of course!

Also, and most importantly, Pirates captured Patrick at the age of 16, during a raid and sold him as a slave in Ireland. Without pirates, there would be no St. Patrick or Ireland.
